Last year’s Remnant: From the Ashes was something of a pleasant surprise. A shooter title that was pretty difficult that saw you go through a variety of different post-apocalyptic world landscapes, it ended up being quite an unexpected favorite from Gunfire Games. Thankfully, the effort seems to have been rewarded with strong sales.
Publisher Perfect World Entertainment and Gunfire today announced that the game has sold over 2.5 million copies. It’s an impressive number for a game of this size and says a lot about its appeal since it’s been given away for free on various platforms, even said to have been redeemed a staggering 10 million times when it was given away free on the Epic Games Store, and has still continued to sell for over a year.
Gunfire Games is now one of the many studios owned by THQ Nordic/Embracer, so it’s unclear what the future of the franchise looks like and if they’ll be able to work on a sequel or if Remnant is destined to be a one off. For now, the game is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
