Resurgent Nintendo Games Dominate UK Charts Thanks To Stock Resupplies

As physical stock shortages come to an end, several titles see significant week-over-week boosts.

The previous week proved to be an interesting one as far as boxed video game sales in the US are concerned. As per data provided by Gfk (via GamesIndustry), with several games getting stock resupplies and their shortages coming to an end, there were week-over-week jumps in sales for quite a few titles, especially Nintendo games, with fifteen of the top 40 being first party Switch titles.

Of those fifteen, four were in the top 10, with Ring Fit Adventure (which has suffered major stock shortages of late) seeing a massive 822 per cent week-on-week boost to place seventh, and Luigi’s Mansion 3Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild also ranking in the top 10, each enjoying week-on-week boosts. Meanwhile, Minecraft’s Switch version – not a first party title, of course – also 197 per cent increase, coming in at No. 6.

The top of the table is occupied by Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, predictably enough, while FIFA 20 in second place is also not very surprising. Grand Theft Auto 5 and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order also continued to perform well, remaining in the top 10. The only new game in the charts is Journey to the Savage Planetdebuting at No. 34.
