EA has for years been the face of the side of the industry that seems to have lost faith in the financial viability of single player story-driven games, but on of their own releases has been consistently proving that wrong of late. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was met with strong sales right off the bat, becoming the fastest selling digital launch for the series with 2.14 million digital units sold in its launch month. Now, in their recent quarterly financial briefing, they have provided a update on the action-adventure title’s sales- and it seems to have performed much better than they had hoped it would.

EA says Fallen Order’s sales have “significantly beat our expectations”, and that the game has already “hit the high end” of what they thought it would have sold by the end of the current fiscal year (that being the end of March 2020). Though they didn’t provide exact sales numbers, EA had initially expected the game would sell 6-8 million by the end of March 2020, which the game has sold around 8 million units.

These stronger-than-expected sales have, in fact, led to EA increasing their sales forecast for the game. They now expect it to have sold 10 million units by the end of the fiscal year, which they say is “a very strong result for a single-player action game.”

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is out now for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Had there been any doubt over whether EA would consider a sequel to the game, these sales are sure to have dispelled those. In fact, Respawn were recently already hiring for development of a new Star Wars title.
