With the PS5 and the Xbox Scarlett releasing in a year’s time, it’s shouldn’t come as a surprise that several developers across the industry are working on next-gen projects. One of those is Rockstar, who seem to have put up multiple job listings on their website, for what is described as a next-gen open world game.
A listing for Animations System Programmer at Rockstar San Diego says, “we are looking for an experienced, talented engineer to help us in developing advanced animation systems for large open world character-based games.” Meanwhile, listing for a Junior Animation Programmer makes mention of “pushing the boundaries of character animation on next generation hardware”, while another listing for Environment Terrain Artist mentions work on “terrain for next-gen game environments.”
Recently, Ruffian Games put up job listings that mentioned online development for Rockstar Games on “future projects”, with the ad itself saying that “it should be reasonably simple to make an educated guess or two” about what games they’re working on, given Rockstar’s portfolio.
The obvious answer is, of course, Grand Theft Auto 6, a game that has popped up in resumes in the recent past as well.
