NISA has announced that it will be bringing RPG Maker MV – a suite of game creation tools that does exactly what its name implies – over to consoles. RPG Maker MV is already available on PC and Mac, and allows you to make RPGs in the vein of classic 16-bit ones, for PC, Mac, and mobile platforms- it being ported to consoles now means it will finally support those systems too.
RPG Maker MV will be coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. This actually marks one of the rare NISA releases that comes to Xbox One, after their President revealed that they don’t feel that the Xbox platform is conducive to the kinds of games they make earlier this year. In any case, it will be good to be able to try out some basic game creating on consoles as well now, if nothing else.
Further details, such as whether the games that are created will be cross platform compatible, are not known for now. What we do know is that the game will be launching in 2019. Hopefully, more details are shared soon regardless.
