RUMOR: Quantum Break May Be Delayed To Early 2016

Remedy's Xbox One exclusive may be coming later than anticipated.

One of the most anticipated Xbox One games of the year is Quantum Break, the excellent and powerful third person shooter being developed by the masterminds at Remedy, the same folks who brought us the first two Max Payne games, and Alan Wake.

However, given Remedy’s track record – Alan Wake was delayed for five years before it finally hit the scene – expecting a delay for Quantum Break wasn’t exactly much of a leap, and now it seems that that is exactly what has happened. See, the Dutch community manager Dae Jim tweeted that Quantum Break might have been delayed into early 2016.

‘Got some bad news #Xbox gamers, #QuantumBreak is likely delayed, coming early 2016!,’ he initially tweeted. The tweet has since been deleted, but all of his subsequent tweets on the subject can still be found on the page. He followed this up with an explanation for why delay might not be a bad thing: ‘Consider this please, delaying is bad for all who are waiting for it but good for the game itself. More sales, more polish and #XboxOne will have an insane 2015 anyway, with or without Quantum Break. Now it will make 2016 freaking awesome ;)’ he said.

But he also added that he was speculating himself, and that it might be best to just wait for some official announcements. ‘Just to clarify I’m using likely because it’s still a rumor and I cannot confirm it myself. Please wait for official PR from MS,’ he said. ‘To clarify, the #QuantumBreak news I posted was a opinion piece NOT a confirmation.I am NOT an official MS employee, like some of you thought.’

That sounds like a lot of clarification, and like he is trying to put out the fires. Whether or not that is because he leaked something he should not have, or because an innocuous remark made by him escalated and caught on like wildfire, remains to be seen.
