Koei Tecmo have no shortage of musou Warriors franchises under their belt. While the Dynasty Warriors series transports players to large-scale battles in the Three Kingdoms era in China, Samurai Warriors instead focuses on some good old samurai action in Japan. It’s been a while since the latter got a new entry, but that’ll be changing soon.
Samurai Warriors 5 is coming later this year to consoles and PC, and will bring more 1 vs 1000 battles for players to dive into. With a new visual presentation and updated character models, it’s looking to be a step up for the series from a graphical perspective. It will focus on two key figures from the Sengoku era- the warlord Oda Nobunaga, and his former ally and eventual assassin Akechi Mitsuhide.
Samurai Warriors 5 launches for the PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC this Summer. There’s no word yet on enhancements for next-gen consoles or an exact release date, but those details will be coming soon, so stay tuned.
