Scorpio Graphics Boost Will Be Smaller At First, 6TFLOPS Will Allow For High FPS In 4K, Says Tarsier

Little Nightmares's Dave Mervik thinks Xbox Scorpio is gonna be good.

While there is quite a bit of excitement surrounding the Xbox Scorpio, both among developers and users, there are some people who have rightfully pointed out there are going to be some drawbacks, at least when the console launches. We recently talked to Dave Mervik, one of the devs working on Little Nightmares for Tarsier Studios. Mervik thinks the Scorpio isn’t going to be hitting its potential out of the box but will hit its stride eventually.

Mervik was asked specifically whether he thought the power that comes with the Scorpio will really be able to be put to meaningful use. “Initially, we’ll probably see less of a boost than we’d hope for, but there are ways to improve the games for Scorpio without sacrificing the experience of the game on Xbox One. With time, developers usually find a way to get the most out of the consoles in one way or another.”

Mervik was also asked what he thought was going to be some of the graphical improvements that come along with the 6 TFLOPs the Scorpio is going to be powered with and while he wasn’t specific, he certainly seems to be looking forward to checking it out. “We’ll hopefully get some really beautiful games running at a high frame rate in 4k. That would be a nice high bar for others to try to follow.”
