As Rare has hyped up its shared world pirate experience Sea of Thieves throughout the year, it’s been running a technical alpha for the same in the background. The alpha started with 1,000 players and is now up to almost 200,000. A final testing phase has been announced before the game’s release and anyone who’s signed up to the Sea of Thieves Insider Programme can take part.
Those who haven’t signed up for the Insider Programme can still do so now. The final date for doing so is December 1st. If you’re interested in taking part, you have sign a non-disclosure agreement and be 18 years of age or above. An Xbox Live account on Windows 10 and Xbox Live Gold on Xbox One are necessary to play as well.
Sea of Thieves is currently scheduled to release in early 2018 for Xbox One and Windows 10 PC. This latest development means we’re all the closer to launch though there’s no word on how long the last testing phase will be.
