Once upon a time, Shenmue and Shenmue 2 represented the biggest, most ambitious games ever made, featuring a variety of systems, realistic and immersive worlds and NPCs, and the best graphics at the time. That was almost 20 years ago now- what was cutting edge and impressive then, well, isn’t now.
Which is why, in an era when the average AAA game can easily end up taking up about 50GB of hard drive space on your system, the Shenmue 1 and 2 HD Collection will take just 10.35GB of hard drive space put together- at least according to the game’s product page on the console PlayStation Store. That’s tiny- it’s even smaller than games like Monster Hunter World and Persona 5, which represent among the smaller games (in terms of file size) that have been released for the PS4 and/or Xbox One this generation.
But hey, when did file size ever indicate quality? Shenmue was a fantastic game then, and it is bound to be one today. The Shenmue 1 and 2 HD Collection launches on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on August 21.
