Shenmue 3 Could Eventually Be Coming To The Xbox One

The game's director says "I’ll let you use your imagination" on whether he's talked to Microsoft about a port.

While Shenmue 3 is slated for release on the PS4 and the PC, the game’s director Yu Suzuki has recently been talking about the chance of the title eventually coming to the Xbox One. In a recent interview with DualShockers, the director couldn’t, or wouldn’t confirm there were actually plans to put it on that console but perhaps most telling is that he wouldn’t deny those plans existed. When he was flat out asked whether or not there had been discussions about an arrival on the Xbox One, he would only say “I’ll let you use your imagination on this one.”

Part of the reason he’s being so cagey is because Suzuki pretty much has to keep his mouth shut. The director has a pretty good deal with Sony, that includes quite a bit of help when it comes to covering the costs of developing this game. This is exactly the kind of game it would make sense to eventually bring to the Xbox One, especially if the console wants to make inroads in places other than North America. The game series is plenty popular in the US, but it’s got an even bigger following in Japan and the other Asian markets, as well as Europe.

Despite that, it seems like it will be a while before the game could be put on the Xbox One. The game is making progress, as it was just reported to be in a playable state in order to test it. Shenmue 3 doesn’t yet have a release date for the PS4, let alone the Xbox One.
