At long last, after almost 20 years of waiting, Shenmue 3 is due out later this year. And it seems like work on the game is just about entering the final stretches, too. For instance, take voice acting. In an update posted to the game’s official website, the developers confirmed that the English voice work for Shenmue 3 is now 80-90% complete, which means it is entering its final stretches.
We also get a brand new video showing us the voice actors recording in the studio. For a lot of fans of the series, an update like this has to be exciting—we’re so close to getting a resolution to Ryo’s odyssey for vengeance that began so long ago.
On the whole, Shenmue 3, which ended up with over $7 million in crowdfunding, looks like it will end up delivering. The game, for example, will be twice as long as previous titles in the series, so you can expect a lot more bang for your buck too. It’s due out on August 27 for PC and PS4.
