Shuhei Yoshida On PS4: ‘It is too early to talk about the end of this generation of consoles.’

Not anytime soon.

With all the excitement surrounding the advent of next generation consoles,  the president of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida believes that its a bit too early to talk about the end of the current generation consoles or in other words the beginning of next generation.

Speaking to a french site, Lemonde (via VG247), he mentions how the life of consoles has been extended by the inclusion of cloud and social functions.

“Since the launch of the Playstation 3, six years ago, the graphics have evolved, resulting in titles like adventure game Uncharted 3 and Beyond by Quantic Dream . The life of consoles is also extended by services online, which continue to make a new offer cloud and new social functions. It is therefore too early to talk about the end of this generation of consoles,” he said.

The PlayStation is in it’s sixth year and there is no doubt that developers are pretty restricted in terms of what they actually want to  do. It only makes sense that Sony should launch the PlayStation 4 since they don’t want to give too much shelve time to Nintendo’s Wii U without any competition.
