Silent Hill 2’s upcoming remake was MIA for quite some time now, but over a year on from its official announcement, the psychological horror title finally re-entered the spotlight at Sony’s recent State of Play showing with a new gameplay trailer.
The trailer shows plenty of combat, with protagonist James Sutherland shown to be meleeing enemies before going on to pull out his pistol and rifle to take a much more visceral approach. As expected, with its new over-the-shoulder third person perspective, the game does seem to have some strong Resident Evil 2 remake vibes, at least in a very superficial sense.
The trailer is a fairly brief one (especially considering how long Konami and Bloober Team have been silent about the game), but it’s our first look at actual gameplay, so that’s something. Check it out below.
Silent Hill 2 is in development for PS5 and PC. A release date still hasn’t been confirmed, but the game is supposed to launch sometime this year. Meanwhile, Konami has also announced and shadow-dropped first-person psychological horror title Silent Hill: The Short Message.
