After debuting yesterday with almost triple its predecessor’s lifetime peak, Slay the Spire 2 has become the biggest rogue-like on Steam. Its peak concurrent player count is currently at 414,218 and once again, shows no signs of slowing down.
Besides completely beating out the first game, it’s also far ahead of FromSoftware’s Elden Ring Nightreign, which previously held the crown for biggest rogue-like on the platform at 313,593 peak concurrent players. Keep in mind that was the full release while Slay the Spire 2 is in early access (and will remain so for at least the next one or two years).
Other notable titles that’s beaten by a wide margin include Megabonk (117,336), Don’t Starve Together (115,925) and Hades 2 (112,947). Considering that Slay the Spire 1 managed to sell over 1.5 million copies months after its 1.0 release, you have to wonder what sales are like for the sequel.
Slay the Spire 2 is currently exclusive to PC, and offers five playable characters including two new additions – The Necrobinder and The Regent. Much like the original, players venture through the nightmarish Spire, choosing paths and building their deck to take on greater challenges. It also supports co-op for up to four players. Mega Crit hasn’t yet provided a roadmap of what’s to come so stay tuned for updates.
