Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 Going Open World

Game's publisher calls this the first real next-gen sniper game.

Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 was officially revealed back in December, but there hasn’t been a whole lot of details released since that unveiling. The company behind the new iteration in what now counts as a long running series, CI Games did say they would have a full reveal at E3 this year. This appears to have helped the dam start to crack and info about the title is trickling out.

The most pertinent piece of new information we have today is that this game is geared to be open world. While this isn’t a particularly new development for video games in general, it is big new for the Sniper Ghost Warrior series. CI Games made it clear that this is the first time they’ve gone in this direction with the series on their Facebook page. The company is also touting this as the “first real next-gen sniper game.”

When it comes to just how one makes an open world sniper game, we learned a while back that the point of this particular chapter in the series will find players caught in the middle of a war between three factions. It seems likely that you will have to pick which faction you are doing jobs for. If this is truly open world, you might also be a sniper for hire who can move about missions and decide who you want to help, when you want to help them.

With the official reveal coming in just over a month, we should know quite a bit more about the game soon. We do know that Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 is due out for the Xbox One, the PS4 and the PC.
