Well, it’s been an exciting today. Not only do we finally, and I mean finally, have the launch date and price for Sony’s PS5, we have a host of titles we can choose from at launch. But, well, you may find it’s not all good as one thing that was confirmed afterwards is that Sony is leading the charge in the next gen price hike.
Via the official PlayStation blog, Sony detailed the upcoming launch line up as well as various aspects of the system. One thing you’ll notice here is that all the first party titles have price hikes of $10 USD with the exceptions being Spider-Man: Miles Morales, but we also knew beforehand it would be more of a standalone expansion than a full retail title as well as it being crossgen, and Sackboy: A Big Adventure at $10 less, but it also is crossgen as well. The next generation exclusive PS5 titles are priced the same.
Sony is the latest publisher to mark up their next generation titles, following Activision with Call of Duty and 2K with NBA 2K21. While it still remains to be seen if the new price will be standard, with one of the platform holders, as well as the market leader, setting the price, expect everyone else to most likely follow. The PS5 will launch on November 12th alongside these newly priced games.
