At long, long last, Sony announced the price and release date of the PS5 at their PS5 Showcase. Many recent reports have said that the console would launch for $499, with the Digital Edition coming at $399, and that was confirmed to be accurate.
So, here we go- the PS5 is launching for $499 / €499 / £ 449 / ¥ 49,980. The Digital Edition will be significantly cheaper, and will set you back by $399 / €399 / £ 359 / ¥ 39,980.
As many have suspected, the launch will also be staggered, though the gap isn’t as much as you may have originally feared. The PS5 will launch on November 12 in the US, Canada, Mexico, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea.
Meanwhile, it will be coming a week later, on November 19, in the rest of the world. Specifically where China is concerned, Sony says that the console’s launch date is “still under exploration and will be announced at a later date.”
Details on when pre-orders will go live will likely be coming soon, so stay tuned for that.
