SCEA president, Jack Tretton, has mentioned in an interview with Forbes that there are plenty of new developers who are eager to develop for the PS3. The lure of low cost development for iOS hasn’t really bothered them a lot.
“I think there are more opportunities for the next budding generation of developers than there ever has been before,” he said.
“The big publishers are always looking for developer talent. We have more ideas and more initiatives to support than we have development teams to support them.”
He also explained some problems of how things work in the industry and how developers try to look for better opportunities, which doesn’t quite work out the way they wanted.
“It is deadly competition out there to attract development talent. If you follow the industry closely you see publishers that get spun out.
“You see publishers are independent that get bought and then get spun out again. You see factions of that developer spin out and create a relationship with somebody else,” he added.
“It’s a really interesting business and the development community is alive and well. There are a lot of people competing for their talent.
“If you demonstrate some talent, you will have a lot of people courting you to take advantage of that.”
I kind of agree with what he has to say here. Tell us what you think in the comments section below.
