Sony Files Trademark Application For Syphon Filter In Europe

The move may be standard procedure or may be indicative of a new entry to the series.

Some of you may remember Syphon Filter, a stealth action game that was originally developed by Eidetic which is now Sony’s Bend Studio. This is the same studio working behind Days Gone. While Syphon Filter has not had much presence for a while now, users at Resetera noticed (via Gematsu) that Sony had filed for a fresh trademark application for the game’s name in Europe.

A similar action was undertaken by Sony just before they had announced the remake of Shadow of the Colossus. This begs the question if the series will be making a comeback of some sort any time soon. However, this move by Sony may just be standard procedure and doesn’t necessarily indicate that a new game is on the way.

Syphon Filter had debuted on the PlayStation One back in 1999 and the last we saw of the series was in 2007 with Syphon Filter: Logan’s Shadow. It remains to be seen if another entry inthe series is on the way.
