A new State of Play is allegedly on the horizon, according to insider NateTheHate on Twitter. He also reaffirmed that his sources didn’t mix up Red Dead Redemption 1 and 2 when reporting on the latter’s alleged Enhanced version, but that’s a different matter.
Regarding State of Play, a new one in February shouldn’t be too surprising, especially since it also occurred last year. The nearly 47-minute presentation primarily featured third-party games, including Tides of Annihilation, Borderlands 4, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, Monster Hunter Wilds, and so on. Of course, plenty of console exclusives, including Lost Soul Aside, Days Gone Remastered and Saros, also appeared.
With Housemarque’s rogue-lite bullet hell shooter launching in April, it wouldn’t be surprising to see new trailer next month. However, you would think that a dedicated State of Play, perhaps later in the month (if not in early March), is also on the cards. After all, Saros is one of two major PS5 exclusives this year, the second being Marvel’s Wolverine, which launches this Fall.
It’s possible that Sony reveals several new titles, big and small. Maybe it could showcase the long-awaited (and information-dry) Silent Hill: Townfall, which a retailer listed for launch in March. The sky’s the limit – hopefully reality doesn’t turn out too disappointing.
