Sony: Piracy Has Affected The PS3 ‘To An Extent’

Piracy has been affecting video games for a long time. It’s a no brainer that piracy is more rampant in Asia compared to the West.

In an interesting interview with IndianVideoGamer, Atindriya Bose,Country manager, Sony Computer Entertainment India had admitted that piracy has affected the PlayStation 3 in India.

It has to an extent, but it’s not nearly as bad as it is on PS2. We’ve actually done surveys on this. A lot of people are aware of the ability to pirate, but they’re also aware of what they would potentially lose by going that route. You miss out on the online, connected experience, as well as the benefits of new firmware. There is a segment of gamers who have gone the piracy route, and while it hasn’t significantly impacted the sales of PS3 games, it has lowered the rate of the growth we’ve been seeing.

So all those people who buy pirated games, here is a bit of an advice. Always buy original games and show support for the developers/publishers if you want to get an Uncharted experience every year.

Between if you are a gamer who belongs from India (as I do :D), you should really check out that interview. Its pretty damn awesome and a lot of information about Uncharted 3 collectors edition, PS Vita and other PlayStation stuff  has been revealed. Check the full interview over here.
