Despite the fact that the Playstation Plus program seems to only be getting more popular, Sony has apparently announced that it is going to have to raise prices for some subscription tiers in the near future. The website Push Square says it has received direction confirmation from the company that prices in Europe are going to be going up about $3 when it comes to the quarterly option and the monthly option will get a price hike as well.
The company hasn’t laid out just how much the monthly installment plan will cost and it appears it is going to be leaving the price for the year subscriptions the same. The company has also said some of the changes are going to be different depending on what parts of Europe a customer lives in. Sony says that the changes will take place on September 1 and that the new prices are set to reflect “market conditions.”
The good news for PS Plus users in Asia and North America is that the price changes appear, at least for now to only be occuring in Europe. Sony has made a bit of a practice of treating the different regions of Playstation users as separate entities of late. Different games are sometimes offered up to users in certain months and the company offers deals and discounts in separate regions as well as different countries. With the pricing change coming in Europe, it would behoove PS Plus users to keep an eye on their wallets moving forward.
