Sony Removes Neil Druckmann Interview Due to “Significant Errors and Inaccuracies”

"We apologize to Neil for misrepresenting his words and for any negative impact this interview might have caused him and his team," Sony says.

A story that was already pretty darn bizarre has grown even more so. Last week, Sony published an interview with Naughty Dog boss Neil Druckmann on its official website, in which, while speaking about his next game, Druckmann said it could “redefine mainstream perceptions of gaming.”

The hyperbolic statement was met with significant backlash, following which Druckmann indicated that his original answer during the interview had been heavily edited by Sony. The full, original answer, which he shared on Twitter, was, in the end, a significantly different one from what ended up being published.

In the aftermath of Druckmann’s tweet, Sony has now taken the decision to pull the entire interview. The interview has now been removed and replaced with a short message that says it was taken down “several significant errors and inaccuracies that don’t represent [Druckmann’s] perspective and values (including topics such as animation, writing, technology, AI, and future projects).”

“We apologize to Neil for misrepresenting his words and for any negative impact this interview might have caused him and his team,” the article now reads. “In coordination with Naughty Dog and SIE, we have removed the interview.”
