Sony Will Probably Announce A New IP For PS4 At E3 2017, Focus Will Be On 3rd Party Games – Michael Pachter

'I expect something new.'

E3 promises to be an interesting, important time for all of us, as we all expect many exciting and interesting new games to be announced. For the last few years, Sony has dominated the conversation at E3, thanks to their propensity to make the biggest announcements. Is that something they might do this year as well?

The last two E3’s have been superb for PlayStation with a string of new game announcements such as Shenmue 3, Death Stranding, Final Fantasy 7 Remake and others. However this year is a bit different. Along with big games like The Last of Us Part 2, Sony already has a line-up of exclusive third party marketing deals on Star Wars Battlefront 2, Destiny 2, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Call of Duty World War 2.

The general fear about this has been that Sony, with so many third party deals already in place, as well as previously announced exclusives in the pipeline, may just have a relatively ‘safe’ E3. However, it seems as though Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter expects Sony to have a new IP announcement at E3 this year, at least- albeit, he too expects Sony to focus primarily on third party games.

“No idea what Sony has planned for us,” he said to GamingBolt in an exclusive interview. “There will probably be a new IP, but am not sure what it will be.  Yes, they will definitely focus on third party, but I expect something new.”

It should indeed be interesting to see what Sony brings to the table this year at E3. Hopefully, it is along the lines of their 2015 and 2016 E3 pressers.
