343 Industries have confirmed that a Spectator Mode will be included in the upcoming Halo 5: Guardians beta that begins later this month, but they have also been swift to allay any concerns about how this might enable cheating.
“Spectator mode is huge,” producer Josh Holmes said. “Basically, what you’ll be able to do in the beta is–any of your friends that are online, you can go and spectate on their games.”
However, he did add that there would be a delay in the feeds to ensure that cheating is minimized.
“You can then go and look at that game and you can view it from multiple different perspectives,” he said. “It’s essentially liked a saved film that’s running off of the dedicated server.”
The Halo 5 beta is slated to begin on December 29, and it will be available to everyone who bought Halo: The Master Chief Collection on Xbox One. The game itself is due out some time in 2015.
