Update: It seems the tweet has now been taken down, for some reason.
Original post follows:
Insomniac’s Spider-Man, releasing exclusively for the PlayStation 4, has been rather impressive to watch. From its reveal with the cutting edge graphics that seemed too good to be true to full-sized Manhattan teeming with activities and villains, the developer has done its best to channel the best of Spider-Man. However, while the story does include many classic characters, it’s largely been marketed as separate from the main Marvel Comics multi-verse.
That won’t be the case going forward though. In a new tweet from PlayStation UK, Marvel Games executive producer William Roseman was quoted as stating that Spider-Man PS4 would be “official Marvel Comics canon”. That means this Peter Parker gets his very own Earth and opens up the possibility for tie-ins with other Spider-Man properties.
It’s an intriguing prospect, and for those who enjoy Spider-Man’s adventures in the PS4 game, it’s a way to continue following his story in the future. Of course, Insomniac has some story DLC planned for launch, but we’ll get to it when we get to it. Spider-Man is currently slated to release on September 7th.
