Thunder Lotus Games is known for the action-packed Sundered but also has some more contemplative games like Jotun. Its latest title Spiritfarer is much more of the latter as players controller Stella, who ferries deceased spirits into the afterlife. To get an idea of how the gameplay works – and admire the gorgeous visuals as well – check out the trailer below.
As a Spiritfarer, you befriend various spirits and embark on different tasks like mining, cooking, fishing and crafting to keep the journey going. You’ll bond with different passengers and learn more about their stories. Ultimately though, you’ll need to see them leave which can be heart-breaking in its own right.
The game even supports co-op with a second player controlling Daffodil the cat and assisting with different puzzles. All in all, if you’re looking for a laid back, cozy experience that’s focused on story-telling, then Spiritfarer may be worth keeping an eye on. It’s out in 2020 for Xbox One, PS4, PC and Nintendo Switch, and will also be coming to Xbox Game Pass for PC and console.
