Square Enix Recruiting For “HD Development of Kingdom Hearts”

The publisher is already looking to the future of the franchise.

2019 proved to be a year of much-anticipated culmination for Kingdom Hearts fans, as its ongoing and long-running narrative arc was brought to a close with Kingdom Hearts 3. However, though the Dark Seeker Saga is over, Kingdom Hearts as a series is far from done- which isn’t surprising, given how well Kingdom Hearts 3 is selling.

There’s an expansion due out for the RPG soon, but even beyond that, it seems Square Enix is already gearing up to work on future instalments in the series. As per three job listings on Square Enix’s official site – for the positions of UI Designer, Technical Artist, and Effect Designer – Square Enix is looking to recruit new faces to work on “HD development of the Kingdom Hearts series.”

What exactly that entails is anyone’s best guess. Even though it’s a pretty safe bet that there will be new Kingdom Hearts games in the future, there’s no telling what specifically Square Enix is referring to here- from remasters to brand new instalments in the series, it could be anything. Either way, it’s great knowing, at the very least, that we haven’t seen the last of Kingdom Hearts yet.
