Star Citizen “Isn’t a Sprint or Marathon” – Chris Roberts

Creator and Cloud Imperium Games head says the game has now become a way of life for the community.

Cloud Imperium Games, headed by industry veteran and Wing Commander creator Chris Roberts, has made astonishing progress with Star Citizen. The Kickstarter-funded open-ended space sim has raised almost $69 million in funding and its scope larger with each passing day. However, as Roberts put it in a recent year-end letter, there’s no traditional finish line as with most retail games.

“Star Citizen isn’t a sprint, it isn’t even a marathon. There is no final finish line the way you would have with a traditional retail game. Star Citizen is a way of life for as long as the community is engaged by it.”

Roberts also took the time to credit his team for the work done thus far, stating that,”It’s a project that is being built not just by 300 developers, but a project that is being built by hundreds of thousands of gamers that love PC games, that love space games and want to see a game made RIGHT, one that has such depth and ambition that they can see themselves happily adventuring for years to come.”

How are you finding Star Citizen thus far? Is it fulfilling your expectations or is there more work to be done? Let us know in the comments.
