Star Citizen Reaches $43 Million in Crowd-funding

Chris Roberts' open ended space sim simply can't be stopped.

Chris Roberts’ Star Citizen has been smashing crowd-funding records in the past year and now the open ended space sim has done it again. Roberts Space Industries recently announced that the game raised $43 million in crowd-funding, which has unlocked new Marine combat armour for those backing the project.

Stretch goals have been announced for $44 million and $45 million, and with the game releasing in 2015 for PC, it’s very likely they’ll be reached.

Much in the vain of Freelancer and Wing Commander, Star Citizen is a space simulation that allows players to make their own decisions and craft their own open-ended quest. You can become a supply runner, a space pirate, fight on the side of the law and much more. Along with a meaty single-player campaign titled Squadron 42, Star Citizen will feature a persistent online environment where thousands of players can take part.
