DICE and EA’s beleaguered Star Wars Battlefront 2 is supposed to get post launch support for absolutely free- in fact, that was originally what the (hugely egregious) microtransactions in the game were supposed to subsidize. And now, DICE has explained some of what we can expect from that future content in an AMA that they held on their own forums.
Talking about seasonal content, they noted that most of it will vary, depending on what fans ask for, though they also said that some of it is predetermined, and will tie into new movie releases. They also said that all planets will eventually work with all game modes; the next update will take a step toward this by making multiplayer planets playable in arcade mode.
There are also new PvE modes coming to the game, as well as UI updates, new maps, and content from the Clone Wars as well. They also reiterated the upcoming new progression system for the game (which will also bring back microtransactions), though, again, they said that it will be unveiled properly in March.
It sounds like they are at least being transparent in their communication now, so I will give them credit for that. It’s the first step towards winning back customers’ trust. Star Wars Battlefront 2 is available now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
