Star Wars Battlefront 2 Dev Explains How They Are Making A Single Player Story Based On The Empire

An essential Star Wars story.

EA have released a new video that includes some interesting details and a lot of new footage for the single player campaign of the upcoming Star Wars: Battlefront II. Unlike its predecessor, Battlefront 2 has a larger focus on the solo side of the experience, so much so that it’s campaign, which is being designed by the team at EA Motive, will be canon to the Star Wars universe.

The video shows the people at EA Motive discussing several details about the story itself, as well as the characters. With Battlefront II’s campaign, EA Motive are attempting to put a larger focus on the story of the Empire following the destruction of the second Death Star in Return of the Jedi. “The idea of the imperial perspective is, you never really understand who they are as people, or how the organization works,” said Mark Thompson, game director, in the video. “How can we distill that, and how can we make a story around that?”

The video includes a lot of great footage, both in-game and from the motion capture of several of the main characters. For those who’re looking forward to the game’s campaign, it’s definitely worth a watch, so give it a look below. Star Wars Battlefront II launches later this year for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
