In light of the recent UK sales charts from Chart-Track, it was revealed that Star Wars Battlefront 2 debuted in second place behind Call of Duty: WW2. Which sounds all well and good, especially considering the controversy it faced with its microtransactions and pay to win elements in the past week. However, it was also revealed that first week physical sales were 60 percent lower than that of Star Wars Battlefront 1.
It’s worth noting that digital sales for a number of titles have gone up in the past few years for the UK. The best example is Destiny 2 which had 50 percent higher digital downloads than its predecessor. We’ll have to wait and see how these physical sales pan out across the world.
In the meantime, EA has disabled all microtransactions for Star Wars Battlefront, though the loot boxes and random Star Card rewards for them are still present. As it stands, the game’s meandering and short campaign has also been criticized.
