Star Wars Battlefront 2 Will Have Better Lightsaber Combat Than The 2015 Game, Developer Says

He also discusses hero AI for skirmish mode.

In a lot of ways, Star Wars Battlefront in 2015 felt like a missed opportunity. While there is little doubt that it played well, it also felt like a standard multiplayer shooter- it felt like it failed to truly leverage the richness of the Star Wars setting, and all that it affords.

We have already seen multiple things that indicate that that might change with the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront 2– and that might include the lightsaber battles, too. Speaking on Twitter, the game’s Hero Designer Guillaume Mroz said that it would be far better in the upcoming sequel, citing it as being ‘more agile and responsive’, with ‘dodges and blocks [being] very important’.

He also noted that Heroes might not make it into Skirmishes and Arcade modes as AI, noting difficulties in programming and balancing them- that said, he did promise that DICE is going to keep looking into ways to iterate on those modes.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 is due out in November on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
