Star Wars Battlefront Dev Has “All the Ingredients” for Authentic Experience

How many game companies are going all the way to Finland for authenticity's sake?

When Star Wars: Battlefront finally launches this November, DICE wants to make sure that fans of the movie series feel as though they are actually inside those movies. Senior producer Sigurlina Ingvarsdottir recently talked to Game Reactor and spoke about how the studio wants to get the game as authentic as possible. The studio seems to have gone the extra mile to put themselves in the shoes of the fans. This isn’t just about watching all the movies over and over again. Ingvarsdottir says the group working on the game definitely went the extra mile. Sometimes they went thousands of miles.

“That’s where our collaboration with Lucasfilm comes in, because they’ve given us incredible access to the original props from the movies. So we’ve been to Skywalker Ranch and we’ve been to the archives, and we’ve used the technology called photogrammetry to capture these assets and bring them into the game.”

The designer says the team was able to get their hands on props from the original movies as well. They even traveled to locations like Finse, Norway, in order to capture the look and feel of Hoth.

The company has also made sure to put the original music, composed by John Williams into the game. All of this seems to show that DICE wants to truly make a game that Star Wars fans are happy with. It also underlines just how nervous the company when it took the project on. The devs have already admitted that fear before but they think they’ve got a handle on the title now. We’ll all be able to find out for sure when Star Wars: Battlefront launches on the PS4, Xbox One and PC on November 17.
