Star Wars Battlefront Features Dedicated Servers

DICE's Jamie Keen says it ensures "an unparalleled online service for the game".

DICE’s Star Wars: Battlefront may lack a server browser on Xbox One and PS4 (still no word on PC) but it will have dedicated servers. This is according to designer Jamie Keen who spoke to PlayStation Lifestyle and confirmed as much.

“We’ll still have dedicated servers. Absolutely. It’s one of the hallmarks of making sure we deliver an unparalleled online service for the game.”

Considering how some multiplayer games still struggle with P2P networking and the lag that can come with it (*cough*Destiny*cough*), it’s certainly a good thing that EA and DICE are putting dedicated servers at the forefront.

We’ll find out for ourselves how the overall latency and responsiveness of the multiplayer experience is in early October when the open beta for Star Wars: Battlefront goes live. It will feature a variety of online and offline modes, including Drop Zone and Walker Assault.

Star Wars: Battlefront releases on November 17th in North America and November 20th in Europe.
