Perhaps because Star Wars: Battlefront has been talked about as being the next big leap forward when it comes to graphics, the game’s launch has been nothing if not incredibly successful. In Japan, the newest media create charts show the PS4 version of the game was not only tops on the list, but outsold the second most popular game by nearly 100,000 units.
So what’s the bad news? The bad news has to the sales numbers for the Microsoft Xbox One, which is still struggling to get any kind of foothold at all in the Asian markets. Not even a super popular game like Star Wars: Battlefront has been able to really make a dent when it comes to getting people to actually buy the Xbox One at a pace that is even remotely similar to what the PS4 has going for it.
On the other hand, if there was ever a game that started getting people in Japan at least a little interest in the Xbox One, it might have been Star Wars: Battlefront. Dualshockers reports that while the Xbox One version of the game couldn’t crack the top 20, it did make the list at number 35. The (comparitively) brisk sales of the game on that platform in the last week even finally got Microsoft to cross the 60,000 units sold mark in that country. For sales in the week, the Xbox One finished 8th, but it did manage to beat out the Nintendo 3DS XL and the PS Vita TV.
