Star Wars Battlefront is “Largest Digital Launch” in EA History, More Free Content Coming

New maps and Star Cards to be added for free "in coming months."

Despite criticism for its gameplay and limited content, DICE’s Star Wars Battlefront has been a great success worldwide. Electronic Arts revealed that the multiplayer shooter was the “largest digital launch” in its history and also the “biggest launch” of any new Star Wars game ever (since it’s considered a whole new property).

EA Studios executive Patrick Soderlund said in a new blog post that players will be receiving more free content in the coming months. Along with the Battle of Jakku, which releases on December 1st for those who preordered Battlefront (December 8th for everyone else), Soderlund said, “We will be adding more of what you love about the game, like new maps and Star Cards, for free in the coming months, in addition to all of the content we have coming with Season Pass. We’ll have more to share soon.”

The Season Pass will include four upcoming expansions for Battlefront, the first releasing in early 2016, and retails for $40. What are your thoughts on all the upcoming content? Let us know in the comments below.
