Star Wars Battlefront “May Not Have Depth” That Hardcore Shooter Fans Want – EA

CFO Blake Jorgensen says Battlefront is "designed to be much more accessible" to a wide age group.

Despite projecting 13 million units sold for Star Wars Battlefront by fiscal year 2016 (which ends on March 31st 2016), EA admitted that core FPS fans may have been disappointed by the lack of depth in the multiplayer shooter.

EA CFO Blake Jorgensen recently stated at the Nasdaq conference (as revealed by GameSpot) that, “Star Wars Battlefront is a first-person shooter, but it is [one of] the only teen-rated first-person shooters. We had designed it to be a much more accessible product to a wide age group.

“So, an 8-year-old could play with his father on the couch, as well as a teenager or 20-year-old could play the game and enjoy it. It is more accessible. And for the hardcore, it may not have the depth that they wanted in the game.”

Does that affect the game’s sales in the long run? Time will tell but EA has already promised follow-ups to Star Wars Battlefront along with more free and paid content on the way. What are your thoughts on the gameplay? Let us know in the comments.
