Star Wars Battlefront Sells +12 Million Copies – Analysts

DICE's shooter may have generated as much as $660 million in revenue.

DICE’s Star Wars Battlefront did extremely well when it launched in November 2015, becoming the best-selling Star Wars title in history, but reports from GameStop revealed less than encouraging sales. This led many to believe that the online shooter wouldn’t make EA’s predicted 13 million unit mark by end of fiscal year but some analysts believe it’s nearly there.

Wedbush Securities’ Michael Pachter stated to Fortune that Star Wars Battlefront sold six million copies in November and six million in December with $660 million in revenue generated (average retail price being $55). Pacific Crest Securities analyst Evan Wilson stated separately that the game had already sold 13 million copies due to The Force Awakens’ release and discounts.

EA hasn’t officially confirmed the sales figures for Star Wars Battlefront but these statements are pretty encouraging. Star Wars Battlefront will be receiving paid expansions in the coming months along with free updates, like Star Cards, so stay tuned for more details.
