Star Wars Open World Game Canceled By EA – Report

To quote Lando, this deal keeps getting worse all the time.

The EA and Disney Star Wars deal has been nothing short of a disaster so far. We know of at least one canceled Star Wars project from EA already, and the two titles that EA have put out as their end of the bargain, Star Wars Battlefront and Star Wars Battlefront 2, have both proven to be disappointing across the board.

However, there’s been some reason for optimism for the future of EA’s Star Wars output—for instance, we know that Respawn are working on Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, third person action adventure game, which should prove to be pretty exciting. We also know that EA Vancouver is working on an open world Star Wars game, which sounds just dreamy.

A dream is all it will be, however, because according to a report by Kotaku’s Jason Schreier, the publisher has canceled this open world game. The report cites three sources at EA, and mentions that the open world game was being worked on by EA Vancouver in addition to EA Visceral’s project, which they also inherited. While the open world project has never been officially shown off by EA, its existence has been well known.

The report also suggests that EA may get their Vancouver studio to begin work on a new Star Wars game, but at this point, I’m not sure I trust EA to be able to handle that well. Or at all.
