Star Wars Outlaws – Each Planet Will be About as Large as 2-3 Zones in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

Developer Massive Entertainment also confirms that there is no planet in the game that is fully procedurally generated.

Massive Entertainment will be closing out this year with Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, but that’s not the only single player open world game the developer has in the pipeline. Next year, Star Wars Outlaws will arrive on the scene, and given the fact that it’s promising a vast open world experience in a beloved galaxy far, far away, it’s only natural to wonder just how big the game will be, especially given Ubisoft’s propensity for games that perhaps turn out bigger than some would want.

In a recent interview with EDGE magazine (via MP1st), creative director Julian Gerighty revealed new details on the action-adventure title, including what the size of the game will be- or, to be more specific, how large the planets that protagonist Kay Vess will be flying to will be.

According to Gerighty, each planet in Star Wars Outlaws will be roughly the size of two or three zones in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey’s open world map put together, to the extent that traversing each planet will feel like a “journey”, even when using a fast-moving veicle.

Meanwhile, Gerighty also confirms that there is no planet in the game that is fully procedurally generated (unlike fellow upcoming open world space-faring behemoth Starfield), with each location in the game being “handcrafted”.

Of course, what we don’t know is how many planets Star Wars Outlaws will have, which, of course, will be a massive factor in determining jow how large the game’s entire open world setting is going to be. Given the fact that there’s also plenty of emphasis being placed on space flight and combat, one can probably assume that Massive is looking to craft quite a sizeable map, to say the least.

Star Wars Outlaws is set to launch sometime in 2024 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The PC version will seemingly be exclusive to Ubisoft Connect.
