There’s no shortage of excitement surrounding Star Wars Outlaws, and for a major AAA release carrying a license as massive as Star Wars, that doesn’t necessarily come as a surprise. As it turns out, however, the upcoming open world action-adventure title is shaping up to be a huge release even by Ubisoft’s standards.
During the company’s recent earnings Q&A (via MP1st), upon being asked about Ubisoft’s projections for Star Wars Outlaws’ initial sales (those being 5 million units sold in the current quarter, as per Nick Dempsey of Barclays), CEO Yves Guillemot explained that thanks in large part to “the biggest marketing campaign ever for a Ubisoft game”, the company is expecting “a strong launch” for the game.
“What we are factoring in is a strong launch for Star Wars Outlaw,” Guillemot said. “That’s the fact that it’s among the most awaited game of the industry this year and reflecting a really strong positive community sentiment, and also the fact that we are coming with the biggest marketing campaign ever so far for a Ubisoft game.”
Of course, Ubisoft does have other major releases in the pipeline as well, including Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which is due out later this year. Whether the company will be topping its marketing efforts for Star Wars Outlaws with any of its upcoming titles in the coming months remains to be seen, but for now, it’s clear that it’s focused almost entirely on the upcoming space-faring adventure.
Star Wars Outlaws launches a little over a month from now, on August 30, for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The game went gold earlier this month.
