Starbreeze Raises $30 Million To Speed Up Payday 3 Development

As well as to market Overkill's The Walking Dead.

Starbreeze Studios has apparently managed to raise a whopping $30 million by selling shares for the company; this money will go towards speeding up the development of Payday 3, the sequel to their perennially popular co-op heist game.

Some of the $30 million will apparently also be going towards marketing Overkill’s The Walking Dead, the action game based on the popular multimedia zombie franchise that is set to launch for PS4, Xbox One, and PC in Fall 2018.

The reason Starbreeze needed to raise money at all was because of the disappointing commercial performance of RAID: World War 2, which they released on PC and consoles last Fall, and which met with dismal reviews, and player indifference. Hopefully, these upcoming two games perform better. Payday 3 does not yet have a release date (though its development has been extended into 2019 so it won’t be out before then), while The Walking Dead is later this year. Meanwhile, if you are craving more Payday, there’s the upcoming Switch version of Payday 2 in February.
