Stardew Valley “Approved” For Nintendo Switch, Release Date Coming Soon

Chucklefish notes that it's working towards finalizing a release date.

Eric Barone’s Stardew Valley is inching ever closer to a release on Nintendo Switch. Chucklefish CEO Finn Brice noted on Twitter that the Switch version had been approved and the company is now trying to finalize a release date for the game. Given the company’s track record, expect the release to be fairly soon.

Stardew Valley’s multiplayer mode is still a ways off but the developer said it hopes to begin multiplayer beta testing on Steam by 2017 end. The update will then arrive for PC in early 2018 before coming to other platforms like the Switch.

The multiplayer mode has players excited the most since it allows for up to three cabins on one’s farm to house a friend each. This allows players to mine, explore, farm and do everything together with the player.

Released last year, Stardew Valley first arrived on PC via Steam before heading to PS4 and Xbox One in November. It was critically acclaimed for its sheer depth and heart and sold more than a million copies less than two months after launch (though Steam Spy indicates over 3 million owners currently).
