Steam have published their results for their survey for the month of July, and they are, as always, enlightening and illuminating. The Steam Survey results show that Windows 10 continues to be the most dominant OS for gaming, with almost 45% of all Steam users – 44.93% to be precise – using Microsoft’s newest OS, with Windows 7 64 bit and Windows 8.1 64 bit rounding out the top 3 (and Windows 7 cumulatively being the runner up).
In other news, it appears that not too many Steam users have upgraded beyond dual core CPUs just yet. 47.44% of Steam users in this survey own a dual-core CPU, while 45.98% own a quad-core CPU- and on the very high end, only 4.49% have built a configuration with more than four CPU cores so far. Of course, more cores doesn’t necessarily mean better performance (for modern CPUs, it’s far more complicated than that), but we do seem to be seeing a push towards optimization for more CPU cores in modern PC games of late.
But on the whole, it looks like the PC community as a whole is embracing all the latest and greatest technology that is introduced to the market- even if, in some cases, they’re a bit slow about it.
