Still Wakes the Deep Trailer Showcases Perilous Exploration, Strange Phenomena

Set on an oil rig invaded by a hostile entity, the psychological horror title launches in early 2024 for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC.

The Chinese Room debuted a new gameplay trailer for Still Wakes the Deep, its upcoming psychological horror title. It sees protagonist Caz McLeary navigating the broken walkways of the drilling platform after a “catastrophic event.” He needs to find a way to safety while a strange phenomenon is visible and causing major problems.

It’s not long before players are whisked into more claustrophobic interiors, squeezing through openings and crawling through spaces (even underwater). Strange voices echo due to some horrific entity, and it’s all Caz can do to remain undetected. Just when he’s seemingly made it out and going down a ladder, said entity suddenly closes the entrance, causing him to fall.

From the audio to the atmospherics, the gameplay captures The Chinese Room’s penchant for horror. Still Wakes the Deep is out in early 2024 for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC while launching on day one for Game Pass. Head here for more details on the world-building and art direction.
