Following numerous server issues with Street Fighter 5, Capcom had announced earlier today on Twitter that, “We are extending our maintenance indefinitely. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope to reopen ASAP.”
Which is a shame and led to many an exasperated response on the game’s online state. However, the Twitter quickly updated players an hour later that, “Servers are back up! Thank you all for your patience. Please continue to provide feedback here.”
We’re just as confused as you are. It’s possible that the problems were estimated to be worse than they actually turned out being. Then again, it’s also possible that the servers could go on the fritz again.
Street Fighter 5 released on February 16th for PS4 and PC and faced server issues on launch day itself. Since then, Capcom has been working to combat matchmaking troubles, connection errors and more. Given how bare-bones the game was at release – despite having arguably the best all around fighting mechanics and presentation in the genre – the server troubles definitely don’t help.
