We’ll be honest – Street Fighter 5 hasn’t exactly been having the smoothest online experience since launch. Servers essentially gave out on day one and went offline yesterday “indefinitely” for maintenance before coming back an hour later.
Meanwhile, Capcom has been working to improve matchmaking and Battle Lounges for players. In a recent update on Capcom Unity, digital media and eSports director Neidel “Haunts” Crisan stated that matchmaking was being improved for most users and that following server reset, you should encounter opponents quicker.
“We understand players in Europe, the Middle East and some other territories are still running into issues with slow matchmaking. The server team is aware of this and will be continuing to look for ways to improve this issue.
“Our goal is to provide the best online experience for all users, and if you are not in a region that has a large number of users with stable connections it will take longer to find a suitable opponent. Again, we will continue to look at this issue and find ways to circumvent longer than intended wait times for matchmaking.
As for Battle Lounges, Crisan said, “Improvements to Battle Lounges have been made in that users should not get disconnected once they are in a lounge. That said, the ability to search and join Battle Lounges still needs improvement as it is not functioning as intended. We’ll be looking at this over the coming weeks and hope to fix the issue soon.”
